Photobaltic basic lines Create the active participation between the different countries of Central Baltic program with a common objective: the coast, the sea, culture, wildlife, environment and other natural resources generate in the time. The project is willing to use the artistic medium as photography with a book, exhibition and workshops, that will travel around the countries of the program, as interactive method of participation between the subjects and the actors to be involved. Is a propose to made during the seasons of the year, spring, summer, autumn and winter like real protagonists of the Baltic area. Project objective To promote tourism and culture within Latvia, Estonia, Sweden and Finland. Also to create a network of new and professional photographers, and a interest for the use of the photography as a important tool to document the daily life of the socities. Photobaltic it is defined as a group of participative work between people and communities, the soul of the project. Objectives are very clear: To try to find a intercommunication between the photographic art and the natural spaces and people. Project activities Photographers exchange. It is foreseen to involve in the project professional photographers who has made name in their national countries and photography students from universities. 1. How is working the project? From each country professional photographers will go another countries (for example, from Latvia one photographer will go to Sweden, another to Finland, third to Estonia). In the project will be involved also twelve students from each university- 6 of them will go to particular region of, for example, Sweden and six of them will receive 'incoming' foreign photography students from, for example Estonia. They will go together in pairs and make photos, taking notes in small notebooks, recording sound of the scene and later work with it as multimedia show to be exhibited in multiple places, like squares, museums, universities, photography schools, and internet. We have confirmation of Ian Berry, one invited photographer in the project from prestigious Magnum photos agency. 2. What we all expecting with this project? Participation, spread the culture and heritage in Central Baltic countries, publish a book with photos with contents of Latvia, Estonia, Finland and Sweden with texts in English and national languages of the countries participants, a interactive DVD. In the book will be documented coasts, beaches, capital cities, history, ethnography, everyday life of Latvia, Estonia, Finland and Sweden of Central Baltic programme, with coastal regions (during all seasons) even the Aland islands.. 3. Will be workshops with photographers? One of the more important subject of photobaltic is sharing the information. This project is not teaching anyone. The main idea is learn from each other, get the experience, changing diferent opinions, culture and (very important) human talk and opinions. Every photographer will have the duty to take the pictures during one year and sharing his/her experience with students of photography in permanent workshops and seminars. The activities will be in the areas of trekking and routes. Wildlife, environmental, local culture, and photography will be a few of the subjects to work. At the end of the project the students and participants need to made a collective performance of their works (photography, multimedia) as a proof of dedication and work. 4. What is the mission of the writers? They will write the texts in cooperation with photographers, and will be one writer per country. The texts explain about the pictures and why each photo is important. Photography is talking by itself, don't need texts but in this case we wish that writers must be share with photography. 5. There will be outdoor activities? Of course, this is the one of the aims of the PhotoBaltic. Photographers and students working together in the biodiversity of the spaces as a group. Outdoor activities, trekking routes, taking pictures. Students will walk the routes and made new ones, as a nature and wildlife experience. All the work will be updated in the website of the project in English and others languages with photos, showing advances in the project and other descriptions of the participant countries. 6. Book The book is a memory of photos and texts of the project and can be used by partners to show a culture between baltic countries from the look of students and photographers working together. Expecting 400-500 pages book with photographs in color and black and white. The edition of the pictures will be delivery for each photographer in a DVD where will be two folders: one with TIFF files to be print in book and pictures and other folder with jpeg files as fast views. Other technical characteristics will given. 7. Exhibition Expecting 100 big pictures of the photographers to be exposed in squares and free spaces in the cities of the project.
